Tamar B. Mathias
Double board certified in Adult Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Dr. Mathias is known by patients and colleagues for her deep expertise, kindness and care. She meets each patient where they are and works tirelessly to take them where they want to go.
Dr. Mathias’s diverse background allows her expertise in treating children, adolescents and adults with a wide range of issues including but not limited to anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, mood disorders, panic disorders, and eating disorders.
Dr. Mathias has been in private practice in Connecticut since 2013 and an integral part of Sterling Institute since its onset. Prior to moving to Connecticut, she had a thriving private practice in Manhattan and was a clinical instructor of psychiatry at Montefiore Medical Center. She was also an attending emergency room psychiatrist at Montefiore Medical Center. Dr. Mathias was an outpatient psychiatrist at both the Montefiore Family Health Center and Montefiore Child Advocacy Center as well.
Dr. Mathias completed her residency and fellowship at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in NYC and it was there that she won the AACAP Outstanding Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Resident Award. She received her MD from the Sackler School of Medicine in Tel Aviv, Israel and graduated college with Honors from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Passionate about teaching the next generation of doctors, Dr. Mathias was a lecturer of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Montefiore Medical Center and at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. She’s also published in Psychiatric Pearls on Anorexia Nervosa.
Dr. Mathias’s extensive experience allows her to give patients the highest level of care. She recognizes that each person who comes through her door is an individual with unique needs and goals. Her aim is to best serve each and every patient.
